Annexations and Disconnections
When Cities, Villages or Municipal Corporation in the State of Illinois annex or disconnect an adjoining territory to and from its corporate boundaries, in accordance with the Plat Act, Chapter 765 ILCS Section 205/1.02, as amended (Area annexed to, or disconnected from, municipality) a Plat of Annexation or Plat of Disconnection must be filed with the county recorder in the county or counties where the territory is located. Either plats must contain the legal description of the property (metes and bounds with reference to the section, township and range being annexed or disconnected, together with required certifications as may be applicable or required by the local municipality.
When preparing these plats, unlike land boundary survey plats or subdivision plats, we are not required to show the location of physical improvements nor are we required to stake the property corners.
